Ghorepani and Poon Hill Trekking:

Ghorepani and Poon Hill trekking is the most popular and favorite for most visitors with limited time in Nepal. Where all types of travelers can enjoy high country walks on the southern hills of Annapurna Himalayas.

A short and scenic moderate adventure of less than a week or more takes you to the lovely village of Ghorepani.

 

Where high Poon Hill is located above the Ghorepani village, a famous view-point hilltop for stunning sunrise views. Along with fabulous sunrise, enjoy the panorama of the world’s three highest mountain ranges, from Dhaulagiri, and Annapurna to Manaslu Himalayas. Annapurna Base Camp Trek:

The next best choice is Annapurna Base Camp Trek, among the main flow of trekkers. The shortest and most scenic base camp trek in the whole Himalayan range is an adventure of a week. Where visitors feel safe without a problem of catching high altitude sickness of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). As the elevation gains at a gradual and slow pace reaching the highest point at 4,130 m / 13, 550 feet.

The only 8,000 m mountain base camp offers the comfort of nice cozy lodges and guest houses. An adventure that leads to the heart of Annapurna Himalayas within the picturesque Annapurna Sanctuary, where the base camp is located.

 

A trek of week duration, interested trekkers can extend to more days combined with Ghorepani and Poon Hill also. The adventure begins and concludes at beautiful Pokhara, a renowned tourist destination in Nepal.  

 

Mardi Himal Trek:

Of all the popular adventure destinations around Annapurna Himalaya Region, Mardi Himal Trek. A short walk of little more than a week duration on the southern range of massive Annapurna Himalayas.

 

The high Mardi Himal is also known as the ‘Other Sanctuary’ located right beneath the South Face of towering Machhapuchare Himal. 

A fresh new raw trekking but slowly gaining many trekkers every good season of the year round. Considered hidden isolated areas, off the beaten tracks away from mainstream trails. The trek into beautiful rhododendron and pine forest then gives away for short alpine bushes on reaching the high View-Point.

 

The trek starts from low warm farm areas outskirt of beautiful Pokhara city and the valley reaching cooler hills. Then finally walk leads on top at 4,500 m / 14,850 feet high at Mardi Himal View Point. Offers incredible scenery of dramatic landscapes of rolling green hills with massif snow peaks of Annapurna Himalayas.

 

Khopra Ridge and Khair Lake Trek: 

Remote and hidden areas of the Annapurna Himalaya region the Khopra Ridge and Khair Lake Trek. Located far North Mid-West close to Dhaulagiri Himal range and above the world's deepest gorge of Kali-Gandaki River. Least known adventure destination to most worldwide travelers of its beautiful and scenic existence.

 

The trek is full of exciting scenery walking within tranquil lovely alpine woods to high Khopra. The ridges stand in between the massive Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalaya range at 3,870 m / 12, 697 feet. A hike from Khopra leads further high towards the holy Khair Lake at 4,247 m / 13, 934 feet high.

An interesting trekking adventure off the beaten tracks, away from main busy trails for some days. Where one can enjoy the tranquil wilderness with a close backdrop of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan peaks.

 

Annapurna Circuit Trek:

Travelers with great interest to experience both North and South sides of the massif Annapurna Himalaya region is Annapurna Circuit Trek.

 

Listed as the 10th most popular and famous adventure destination around the world, a trek of many varieties. Trekkers can have various options to start and end the trek as per one’s interests. Where the motorable road has reached much of Manang areas, as well around Mustang district. 

 

But still one of the most favored and popular adventures around all of the Himalayas. The walk leads to many changes from landscapes, climatic conditions, and vegetation to varied cultures. From the beginning to the end of a trek, make Annapurna Circuit Trek an amazing adventure to enjoy.

 

A full circuit of more than two weeks, or one can shorten the itinerary days by taking a drive or flight. From Jomsom the headquarters town of Mustang to Pokhara, after crossing the highest point of the trek over Thorang-La Pass.

 

The traverse leads from Manang valley to Mustang areas crossing high Thorang-La pass at 5,416 m high. A magnificent trek walking on scenic Manang valley enclosed by an array of Annapurna Himalayan peaks with Chulu range. 

The adventure leads to beautiful scenic trails through many charming villages of Manang and around the Mustang region.

 

Interested trekkers can extend the trek with Tilicho Lake, situated off the main trails of Annapurna Circuit. Heading towards the high and remote windswept mountainous country to Tilicho Lake, revered as a holy lake around the Himalayas. Which is also the highest glacial lake in Nepal, and probably in the world, located above 4,919 meters high. 

 

From Tilicho Lake either walk to the main Annapurna Circuit trail to cross high Thorang-La or head towards Mesokanto-La pass. Which is at 5,121 m high, then walk to Jomsom for a flight or drive to Pokhara.

 

History and classic name of Annapurna Himalayas:

Some people around the wide world might be aware that Annapurna-I at 

 8,091 m / 26, 545 feet high. Was the first 8,000-meter mountain ever climbed on June 3rd, 1950 by French Expedition, three years before Mt. Everest was conquered by Tenzing & Hillary in 1953?

Which makes Mt. Annapurna the first world’s highest mountain that was ventured and summited. Although Mt. Annapurna-I stands as the world's 10th highest peak, a classic peak with historical background.

 

The name Annapurna is interesting, as ‘Anna’ means Crops / Food and ‘Purna’ for enough. Annapurna's name comes from the ancient Sanskrit language, hence the mountain provides the glaciers that feed the rivers. The glacial rivers irrigate the agricultural fields that yield more crops, thus the name Annapurna.

 

Annapurna Himalaya Region:

Besides the above exciting adventure destination around the Annapurna Himalaya region, there are more treks that one can enjoy. Like the Panchase Hill trek of less than a week duration, the Siklis trek around eastern Annapurna Himalayas.

 

One can enjoy a short-circuit trek around the southern hills of the Annapurna Himalaya range. 

 

Annapurna Himalaya Region Mountaineering and Trekking Peaks:

Annapurna Himalaya Region, besides delightful and exciting trekking, offers great thrills of mountaineering expedition as well.

 

Veteran mountaineers can enjoy various high peaks of Annapurna ranging from above 8,000 m or below 7,000 m mountains. Like Annapurna-I, (8,091 m) Annapurna-II (7,937 m), Annapurna-III (7,555 m) and A-IV (7,525 m).
Including Gangapurna Himal (7,455 m) and Vara Shikar / Annapurna Fang (7,647 m) and Annapurna South (7,219 m). 

 

Apart from various major mountaineering, Annapurna Himalayas offers various trekking peaks. Namely Huin-Chuli (6, 441 m), Tent peak / Tharpu Chuli (5,695 m),

Singu Chuli / Fluted Peak (6,501 m). As well as Mardi Himal (5,587 m) and much more, a great way to enjoy smaller-scale mountaineering on trekking peaks.

 

Best seasons for Annapurna Himalaya Region Adventure and leisure activities:

Annapurna Himalaya Region, visitors can enjoy all types of adventure activities leisure short treks, and hikes. Including mountaineering and trekking peaks climb, during all seasons of the year. But the best is in springtime when days are much longer with enough sunshine, but cold morning and night. 

 

The hills covered in a forest will be lively with wildflowers in the flowering season from March to May. Next, the best season is in autumn from September to November, one of the high times for trekking. Clear and fine with sunny days, most of the autumn/fall season. Much colder morning and late afternoon as well as the night time, but a great time for pleasant walks. The days are much shorter during autumn due to sunlight hours.

 

For short moderate treks and hikes, can enjoy walks during winter times of the Christmas and New Year holidays. Most days are clear and fine, but much cold morning and night time with shorter days.
